Playstation Controller Issues!?

While playing Uncharted 2 last night I noticed that when I shot some one online the controller wouldn't vibrate it would wait untill I was done and then vibrate. The vibration seems delayed. But wen oncharge it works fine. I don't want it plugged in all the time on the short charge cable. Has anyone expericened this besides me?
