Trans Am steering wheel feels loose?

I just bought a 1998 Trans Am and while driving today i have noticed that the steering wheel feels more loose than it should. I have had this car for only a week but when i bought it the steering felt fine and stiff, only it used 2 feel a little tight when turning all the way from side to side. And also I am noticing that my car has gotten a lot bumpier too and I feel vibration under my feet. So by any chance are these 2 problems related somehow? All of this actually happenning at the same time so can anyone please help me out here?
